Man, I almost felt guilty after this one...I said almost! The latest Anime 18 title from Central Park Media that I had the pleasure of checking out is Venus 5 and man is it a sickie! If I didn't know any better upon first glance, I might've just thought that this was a kiddie anime aimed towards the Sailor Moon crowd. Boy would've I been wrong, dead wrong! While Venus 5 is taking a direct jab at Sailor Moon and the like, this is nothing but adult's only fare, that's for sure! After watching this one, I couldn't help but wonder if I was even old enough, and I'm 30! OK, now I'm depressed and I fell like a pervert, thanks a lot!

Something odd is going on at Golden Star University. You see there's this creepy talking cat with a boner wandering around (his name is Buccha) harassing the female student bodies (have you seen these bodies?). In addition to the cat with the boner (who's actually there to help these young ladies), some of the young girls attending the University are preparing for a formal dress ball meant as a welcome for a couple of new male teachers (does anyone else find this to be a bit odd, or is it just me?). In any event, turns out that this is all a ploy (surprise, surprise) in order to secure the proper awakening of Apollo. In order to awaken Apollo the evil forces must find the Venus 5 and secure their love juices for the ceremony. Who's behind all of this? Well, it's a hermaphroditic demon who's securing the dominance of the Inma Empire of course! Oh, and she also happens to be the Dean of Golden Star University. When she's not collecting female ejaculate in a jar, this she male demon is trying to thwart the plans of the Venus 5. Venus 5 are the world's only hope, a rag tag group of on campus hotties who flick a button on their watches and bam, special powers ignite! Can the Venus 5 do it (whatever THAT means) and will Buccha the cat be able to control his boner when the evil she male demon straps a leather thong on him? I think we all know the answer to that question, a lucky thong! Wait, what?

Presented here in two parts, we're given the first two episodes of Venus 5 entitled The Inma Ball and Labyrinth of the Inma. While part gives us the basic set up and the introduction of the 5 young lasses to be known as the Venus 5, part two jumps right back into action and the possible destruction of the Inma Empire. I'd be lying if I said that it all wasn't really pedestrian and predictable, but it is satire after all and on that level, as a goof and a moment of mindless entertainment, it works. It's pretty raunchy, in case you haven't gathered that much yet, so it goes without saying that this one is certainly NOT for the easily offended or faint of heart. The animation is a bit choppy, but then again as a sexilicous jab on the likes of Sailor Moon (which also features mildly choppy animations) I'd have to say that once again on this level it works. There's not much in the way of actual violence either, mostly just sexual violence (some really sick moments at that) which is to be expected considering the grotesqueness of these demons and their monster cocks (literally). Venus 5 is a truly odd viewing experience, even for someone with past Hentai experience, but if taken at face value, it undeniably delivers the goods.

Venus 5 is presented full frame here and it looks just fine in a nice clear transfer with bold and solid colors. Audio is presented in either English or Japanese with optional English subtitles. The stereo track sounds fine as well all around with solid dialogue, moans, gasps and shrieks (you name it!). Turn this shit down if the walls are thin in your apartment, your neighbors will never forgive you for it!

Extras include the usual Anime 18 fare including some trailers, stills and that Anime Artform bit that gives us some background on this Hentai style animation. Accepted at face value, Venus 5 can offer the kind of entertainment that would really cause your parents to hang their heads in shame. It's no Nightmare Campus that's for sure, but it does deliver on its sick and silly promises while never for a moment taking itself too seriously. Oh, and by the way...you should be ashamed of yourselves! God knows I am! Enjoy!
